Bigger Cash Prizes In The Screw Turn Flash Fiction Competition

It’s time for another Ghost Story Awards contest. The Screw Turn Flash Fiction Competition is open for submissions until January 30. Short-short stories of between 250 and 1,000 words will be eligible for a cash award of $500 (winner) or one of two honorable mention prizes worth $250. All three winning stories will receive Valentine’s Day publication on The Ghost Story Website, as well as book publication in our upcoming anthology, 21st Century Ghost Stories: Volume II.

You can click right here for guidelines to our 2019 contest. Good luck!

THE DEADLINE

posted: May 1, 2018

. . . Now The Reading Begins!

As the hour glass ran out on April, we stopped accepting submissions to the Summer 2018 Ghost Story Supernatural Fiction Award competition. If you entered, you’ll hear from us within the next six weeks as we work our way through the mountain of stories. The winner and honorable mentions will be published here on Midsummer’s Eve—and in our anthology, 21st Century Ghost Stories—Volume II, scheduled for publication by Wyrd Harvest Press in 2021.

We’ll begin accepting stories for our Fall contest on August 1. Cheers — The Editors

ANTHOLOGY UPDATE

Our Inspired Illustrator

Our editor keeps editing, and our illustrator, Andy Paciorek, keeps illustrating, all with the goal in mind of having 21st Century Ghost Stories—Volume I, in readers’ hands by August.

The image above is just one of the many illustrations Andy has already produced for our anthology of supernatural stories that won or received honorable mentions in The Ghost Story Awards fiction competitions between 2015 and February, 2018. The ghostly figure, of course, is that of jazz great Louis Armstrong, whose spirit plays a prominent role in Gene Bryan Johnson’s short story, “Negroes Anonymous,” winner of the summer, 2016, Ghost Story Supernatural Fiction Award.
